Washington, DC – July 21, 2003 – CAM Communications (CAMCOM), a GMSI company, was awarded Verizon’s Supplier Excellence Award for its exceptional performance in telecommunications engineering and equipment installation services. CAMCOM, having received an "A" rating, was one of more than 300 top Verizon suppliers considered for the award, based on criteria such as performance, service and delivery, customer satisfaction, and emerging technologies. The award recognizes suppliers that have helped Verizon provide exceptional services to its customers. As a minority-owned business, CAMCOM’s award also demonstrates the quality and success behind Verizon’s Corporate Sourcing and Supplier Diversity program. CAMCOM, which became a certified minority vendor in 1998 after undergoing a rigorous certification process by Verizon, maintained a record of zero network service outages throughout the year. For its diversity initiatives, Verizon placed third on DiversityInc magazine’s list of "Top 10 Companies for Supplier Diversity." CAMCOM’s Chief Executive Officer, Carlos Munoz, offered, "We could not have achieved this success without the backing of Verizon’s Corporate Sourcing group. But I know the key is to perform and that’s what we do every day." CAMCOM engineers and installs equipment used in Verizon’s central offices, the facilities which act as the switching hub of its telecommunications services for residential and business customers. A Verizon team of project managers, network planners, corporate sourcing, and environmental and engineering representatives selected the winners in five categories.
