Washington D.C. – November, 2003 – GMSI, provider of IT services to the U.S. federal government, was awarded a Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) of Bethesda, Maryland. The five-year contract calls for information technology and programming services. To serve and improve NIH’s operations and communications, which is comprised of 27 Institutes and Centers and 18,000 employees, GMSI will be furnishing LAN infrastructure, helpdesk, and audio-video indexing services. As the nation’s steward of medical and behavioral research, NIH is an information-intensive organization whose increasing use of multi-media content and the management of that data will pose greater challenges. GMSI’s indexing technologies will allow NIH to more efficiently and intelligently catalogue, store, and retrieve their audio and video information. The benefits of the blanket purchase agreement for NIH include streamlining the procurement of IT services from a pre-qualified vendor, and gaining discounts off the GSA schedule. As a contractor to the federal government, GMSI was qualified based on its financial viability, technical capabilities, and a track record of successfully providing IT services to other federal civilian and military agencies. About GMSI GMSI’s experience with federal defense and civilian agencies include the National Institutes of Health, Food & Drug Administration, National Science Foundation, Department of Justice, Department of Treasury – Internal Revenue Service, U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Navy, and the U.S. Air Force.
